The video begins with a black bear exploring a house near Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He comes onto the porch and sniffs at the door. Wisely, the person taking the video stays inside. While wildlife can be fun to encounter and see in their natural habitat, bears are notoriously territorial. It’s best to just let them do their thing, even if that thing is getting some jacuzzi time in. As he pokes around the house, the bear comes across the hot tub. He must be thinking that he hit the jackpot! He follows in the steps of Goldilocks and decides to give the hot tub a try to see if it is “just right.” Unfortunately for the bear, there is a cover on the hot tub. He walks around the structure, looking for a way to get in or remove the cover. In the caption, the person shooting the video noted that they actually unhooked the cover when the bear left for a bit. They were worried that the bear would damage the cover if he tried to take it off, which he seemed intent on doing. Rather than risk the damage to the new cover, they took it off themselves.
Relaxing in the Hot Tub
Once the cover is removed, the bear is quick to get into the bubbling warm water. He paws at the chemical dispenser that is floating in the hot tub for a minute before hopping in. Bears are very agile and this guy has no problem walking around the narrow edge looking for the best spot. He dips a couple of paws in to test out the temperature. Isn’t that how we all start getting into a hot tub? Once he decides to get in, the bear really goes for it. In just a second or two, he has all four paws in and sits back on his haunches. He is still very interested in the floating chemical dispenser, pushing it around with his nose and picking it up in his mouth. The jets are on and the bear settles in for an invigorating massage. He moves around just a bit and lets the warm water soothe his tired muscles after a long, hard day as a bear. It’s a rough life, right? He takes one break, climbing along the nearby deck railing, before coming back into the hot tub. This bear seems happy with his new find and not like he is going to leave anytime soon. We can only hope that the bear gets his required dose of self-care in before the people are ready to take their own turn.
