As something catches on his line, he begins to reel it in. He goes slowly, pulling the rod up and then reeling in a section at a time. It’s clear that whatever is on the other end is pretty large, based on the way that the rod is pulling. “Please ignore my grunting, it was the end of a long day,” the man wrote at the bottom of the video before posting. You can hear him work to get the fish up and out of the water. What he didn’t know at the time was that he actually had some competition on the other end of his line.

He continues to reel in the line. As the end begins to come into view, the man gets a surprise that he was not expecting. A bull shark swims up suddenly. It grabs the fish in its powerful jaws and returns under the water with its meal. “Woah!” the man shouts. Amazingly, the whole encounter just lasts a couple of seconds. Luckily, he had his camera trained right on the place where the shark appeared. He kept ahold of his rod and once he collected his wits again, reeled in what was left of his catch. It was much easier this time around now that he only had a small part of the fish left on his line. Where was the rest? In the bull shark’s belly. The video shows a slow-motion repeat of the actual shark sighting. The shark swims alongside the boat, coming up from the deep water. What would you do if a shark suddenly took her catch? Hopefully catch it on video, like this man, and stay in your boat.
