A girl in Philadelphia took a pet alligator to one of the city’s parks to enjoy the fountains and water play. In this video, the girl can be seen holding a leash. But instead of a dog on the other end, it’s an alligator! She is wearing a swimsuit, perfect for splashing and cooling off in the fountains. Other people visiting the park are also barefoot or in bathing suits. They are ready to cool off from the summer heat as well. But most give the alligator plenty of room.

Owning an Alligator

The laws about owning a pet alligator vary by state. Even with states, some cities and neighborhoods have additional restrictions. You may need to get a license or permit to own an exotic animal. It can also be difficult to find a vet that will provide medical care to alligators since not all are trained or equipped to do so. If you do choose to have a pet alligator, be ready to provide it with plenty of food and stimulation. Alligators are not domesticated like dogs or cats. They need more space and a specialized habitat. According to news sources, this alligator’s name is Wally. A Philadelphia man who has over 30 years of experience working with alligators owns Wally and brings him in public to connect with others. Wally is a registered emotional support animal. While not the expected service animal, Wally has a nice disposition and does not bite. His owners raised him from a young age and he has been around people for a long time.
